Palmetto Fellows Scholarship
The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education officially designates initial eligibility for the highly esteemed Palmetto Fellows Scholarship. Finally, prospective students pursuing a STEM-related major may be eligible for the Palmetto Scholarship Enhancement ($2.5K).
South Carolina high school students with outstanding academic credentials may apply for the state-administered scholarship. The recipients are ineligible for the LIFE Scholarship or SC HOPE Award.
Particular Eligibility Requirements for the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship
- American Citizen Amount/Lawful Permanent Resident
- SC Resident
- No felony convictions
- Not two or additional drug/alcohol misdemeanors
- In good standing on all State and Federal loans
- Be in a degree-seeking program at an eligible SC institution
- Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Residency must be validated at the time of high school graduation
Admission Criteria for Freshmen
A student can meet the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship academic eligibility criteria in two ways:
- Class of 10th, the 11th, or the senior year communicate respectively in at least the top 6%. If a school or home school association has an official policy on the rank that has been reviewed by the SC Commission on Higher Education for compliance with the scholarship Regulations, then it may be used as either an eligibility criterion or a selection criterion.
A score of 1200 (math and critical reading only) on the SAT or a composite score to attain at least 27-ACT, through June test administration. Beginning in Fall 2023 and from this point forward, the ACT score will be: 25. Achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5, based on the S.C. Uniform Grading Policy

S.C. Uniform Grading Policy i.) Achieve an Overall 4.0 cumulative GPA.

Transfer Student Requirement Eligibility for Palmetto Fellows Scholarship
General eligibility requirements must be met. If you are eligible for the fellowships, then it is a transferable award and can be requested by contacting the SC Commission on Higher Education.
Continuing Student Eligibility Criteria
All of the standard eligibility requirements must be met. Other renewal criteria you will have to fulfill are your GPA and how many hours or credits you earn each year attending school.
