- Fully online Master of Science (M.S.) in Geosciences with a GIS focus (non-thesis only)

Ph.D. Program
- Ph.D. Program in Geosciences Entry for Fall Semester:
- February 15 (January 15 for international students)
Masters Programs
- Entry for Fall Semester: March 15 (February 15 for international students)
- Entry for Spring Semester: October 15 (September 15 for International Students)
- Entry for Summer Semester: March 15 (December 15 for International Students)
- Masters applicants not seeking funding will be considered on a rolling basis
Admission to the Program At Florida University Department of Geoscience
- Apply online through the FAU Graduate College.
- Doctoral applicants must also submit a 2-3 page double-spaced statement of purpose discussing their background and reasons for applying to the program.
- Request Letters of recommendation:
- PhD Applicants need at least 3 recommendations, including a supportive letter from an FAU Geosciences Faculty member
- MS Thesis Applicants require a recommendation from an FAU Geosciences faculty advisor
- MS non-thesis Applicants are not required to submit any recommendations
- All applicants who have completed education abroad must have their foreign credentials evaluated by FAU at no cost or an independent evaluation service that is a NACES member at the applicant’s cost. Applicants must send certified translated transcripts to the Graduate College through this link.
Applicants must find a faculty advisor before applying to the MS thesis or PhD program. They can check the Graduate Program Faculty lists to identify a suitable advisor based on research interests and then contact them via email to discuss joining their research groups. It’s best to approach one potential advisor at a time.
Financial Support To Florida University Department of Geoscience
- Doctoral Teaching Assistant (TA) stipend is $26,000 for 12 months.
- Master’s TA stipend is $6,240 per Fall or Spring semester.
- Funded Doctoral and Master’s students receive a full tuition waiver for a 9-hour course load per semester. Student fees are not covered by assistantships and are the student’s responsibility.
